Jaynne Merritt Bahrenfuss March 12, 1925 – July 6, 2014 A long-time resident of Aptos, on July 6th Jaynne passed away peacefully with her son John at her side. She was born to Tom and Lucy Merritt on March 12, 1925 on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where her father was the US Postmaster. She moved to Aptos the first time in 1946. Jaynne was employed by Cabrillo College, working in the business office for many years. She served two terms on the Santa Cruz County Grand Jury; the second term as Forman- giving her the distinction as being the first female Forman on the Jury in Santa Cruz County. After moving into the Seacliff Mobile home park she was actively engaged in helping run the park, serving on the management committee and working in the office. She was an avid reader, an accomplished Bridge player and never failed to do the daily crossword puzzles. She is survived by her daughter Diana Stolich of Aptos, her son John Bunyan and wife Bonny of Grants Pass, Oregon; step-daughter Penny Etcheverry and husband Raymond, step-son Butch Bahrenfuss and wife Corinne all of Stockton and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren – great and great-great!. Jaynne will be fondly remembered for her fun loving spirit, her independence and her intelligence. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday August 2, 2014 from 2p.m. until 5p.m., at the Seacliff Mobile Home Park clubhouse, 2700 Mar Vista Drive, Aptos.
