Roy Lee Kennedy, 73, of Big Run road Walkersville passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2010 in United Hospital Center of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Warren, OH on October 10, 1936: son of the late Henry Kennedy and Sarah (Blankenship) Kennedy. On December 4, 1970, he married Barbara A. (McDonnell) Kennedy, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Mary Catherine Atchison and husband Dean of Weston and Christine Harris and husband Thomas of Lost Creek and one son: Robert Kennedy and wife Laura of Horner. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Megan Allen, Sean Harris, Catlyn Kennedy, Taylor Kennedy, Haley Kennedy, Allison Atchison and Jonathan Atchison and 1 great-grandchild: Andrew Sturm. Mr. Kennedy is also survived by one brother William Kennedy in Tennessee, four sisters: Pauline Dale of Bluefield, Chloe Washburn of Deland, FL, and Peggy Costello and Linda Lowe both of Chilhowie, VA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by four brothers. Mr. Kennedy retired from Lehigh Construction Company as a dozer operator. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston with Rev. J. Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant.
