Millinocket, Old Orchard Beach, and Englewood Florida – James P. Murray, Sr., 73, passed away Sunday June 22, 2014 at a Scarborough hospice facility. Jim was born in Millinocket June 26, 1940, the son of Leo and Rella (Guerrette) Murray. Jim grew up in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1958. He went to work at Great Northern as was the custom then and worked his way up as a paper maker. He worked there approximately 40 years when he retired. He and his wife Bonnie wintered in Florida and summered in Old Orchard Beach. They enjoyed traveling throughout the country. Jim enjoyed watching people and talking with them. When he was younger he like to hunt and fish. He also liked to build things but his passion was traveling. Jim also belonged to Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1521 in Millinocket for 30 years. Jim is survived by the love of his life, his wife Bonnie; step children Jamie and wife Christin, and Jill Plourde; his children James Jr., Karen, Thomas, Andrew, and Joseph; 16 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; siblings Donna Millett, Susan Mullen and husband Jerry, and George Murray; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by many close friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a brother Kenny; and a son Peter. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday June 25 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26 at First Congregational Church of Millinocket, 274 Katahdin Avenue at 11AM. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
