It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Elizabeth Greek, 90, of Lunenburg, and formerly of Blue Rocks announces her passing on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Blue Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Currie and Lena (Tanner) Weaver. In her early years, Helen worked in the Housekeeping Department at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and at National Sea Products, Lunenburg. A loving and caring wife and mother, Helen took special pleasure in dressing her children up for every occasion which included events and services at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Blue Rocks where she was an active member for many years. Everyone benefited from her generous nature, from caring for Norman’s parents in their later years, to the wonderful cooking and baking she provided and the attention she gave to her gardens. Helen is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Greek, Middle Cornwall; Shirley Baldwin and Dianne (John) Papidas, both of Mississauga, Ontario; son, Robert (Geraldine) Greek, Dartmouth; sister, Joanne (Mervyn), Shauffenburg, Back Centre; grandchildren, Robert (Christina) Greek, Mark (Susan) Greek, Candi (Brian) Gillis, Valerie (Paul) Johnson, Gregory Kachmar, Daren Kachmar, Susan Rhodenizer, Clinton (Trudi) Rhodenizer, Chad Baldwin, Tara Baldwin, Glen Robinson, fourteen great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rose Weaver, Lunenburg; brothers-in-law, Nelson Tanner, Lunenburg and Paul Allen, Lunenburg. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman Roseville Greek; sisters, Ina and Charlotte; brothers, Donald, Rockwell and Gordon and an infant brother David. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside and committal service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Linda Macdonald, officiating.
