Martha McCurry

Martha Bennett McCurry, age 68, 200 McCurry Lane, Erwin, passed away peacefully at her residence Sunday, June 15, 2014. She was a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, and had lived most of her life in Unicoi County. Mrs. McCurry was a daughter of the late Frank and Julia Peterson Bennett. She retired in 2010 from Morrill Motors after thirty-five years of service. Mrs. McCurry was a member of the Poplar North Carolina Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. McCurry enjoyed exercising, fitness and traveling. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, J. C. Bennett. Mrs. McCurry is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Russell McCurry. Two daughters, Constance McCurry Beale and husband, Brian of San Diego, California; and Crystal Gail McCurry of Erwin; son-in-law, Mike Jeno of Charleston, South Carolina; one grandson, Blake King of San Diego, California; two granddaughters, Haley Nicole Jeno and Sydni Paige Jeno, both of Erwin; two brothers, R. L. Bennett and wife, Angelia, and Frank Rotha Bennett and wife, Patricia, all of Erwin; three sisters, Alena Miller of Missouri, Helen Peterson of Taylorsville, North Carolina and Darlene Bennett and husband, Ellis of Erwin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Committal service will be held at 2:30 P. M. Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. VA Chaplain will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Pallbearers will be Rotha Bennett, Blake King, Brian Beale, Mike Jeno, Ellis Bennett and R. L. Bennett. Friends planning to attend the Committal Service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 P. M Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Unicoi, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
