Robert Cottingham

Robert K. Cottingham, 79, of Hummelstown, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 14, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hummelstown, on November 20, 1934, he was the son of the late William M. and Catherine Lutz Cottingham. Robert retired as the Environmental Systems Operator at Penn State Harrisburg Campus, Middletown. He was a 1953 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 265, Hummelstown, and the Steelton-Swatara Lodge #775 F&AM. He was a handyman, enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, bird watching, and loved going to his cabin. Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Judith A. Williams Cottingham, whom he married on August 30, 1954; two sons, Robert T. Cottingham and William M. Cottingham both of Hummelstown; two daughters, Tamara L. Annibali wife of Tony J. of Palmyra, and Lisa D. Foote significant other of Bryce of Hummelstown; two sisters, Evelyn R. Gonse and Emily E. Plecker both of Hummelstown; a brother, Ronald G. Cottingham husband of Karen of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Francis, and William Cottingham. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. John H. Kratz, Fishburn United Methodist Church, Hershey, officiating. Inurnment will be in Fishburn Cemetery, Hershey. A visitation will be held on Thursday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 101, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
