Jean Hall

Jean Eshenour Hall, 90, of Frey Village Retirement Center, Middletown, and formerly of Hummelstown, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, in the home. Born in Chambers Hill on December 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Page Eshenour. Jean retired as a secretary from the former Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot; and was employed at the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Lower Swatara Township. As a piano teacher she touched the lives of many young children helping to develop their love of music. Jean was the church organist at the former Evangelical United Brethren Church in Hummelstown. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School; and had attended the former Thompson Business College. Jean was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. She enjoyed playing the piano, and doing needlepoint. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, John W. Hall, on May 30, 2013. She is survived by two sons, John W. Hall, Sr. husband of Claire of Palmyra, and Thomas E. Hall of St. Petersburg, FL; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2013, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Michael V. Minnix, one of Jean’s former piano students and pastor of First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg, officiating. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewing in the funeral home Saturday from 10 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
