Denton Bemus

Denton E. Bemus, 76, of Decatur, IN died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital. He was a former resident of Sidney, OH and Louisville, KY. Denton was born on December 7, 1937 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Herman H. and Margaret F. (Huccker) Bemus. On June 9, 1956 he married Amy L. Holly. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2011. Denton was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864 and its 4th Degree Assembly. He worked as a sprinkler fitter and was a member of the Sprinkler Fitters Union 669. He is survived by his children: Douglas A. (LaDonna) Bemus of Louisville, KY, Mark G. (Sandra) Bemus of Louisville, KY, Margaret I. (Russell) McNutt of Tuscon, AZ, Holly A. (James) Kwan of Houston, TX and Eric M. (Cindy) Bemus of New Haven, IN; three sisters, Cheryl (Steve) Corthell of Sydney, OH, Chris (Charlie) Farlee of Woodland, MI and Cathy (Bill) Burnett of Cheboygan, MI; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a grandson George Andrew Bemus and brother Hank Bemus. Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. K of C 4th Degree Honor Guard will post from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday, April 26, 2014 with visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Voors will be officiating and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Building on our Heritage or the Gibault Home for Boys.
