Leroy "Sonny" Kitzman Obituary

Leroy "Sonny" Paul Kitzman 10/02/1950 - 04/21/2014 Hood River, Oregon Paul and Ramona Kitzman had plans to have two children when they married . However, their first two children were girls and they truly wanted a son. So, when Sonny was born on October 2, 1950 in Yakima, Washington they were delighted. Sonny loved the outdoors and earlier in his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his late teens he worked for the Forest Service planting trees. He worked in local mills and numerous construction jobs including wind mill installation projects. The last several years he worked as a flagger on road construction jobs. Many of his flagging jobs were in Newport, Oregon. Newport was his favorite coastal town but he always came back to Hood River where he lived since he was fifteen. He was an avid reader of the Bible. He was especially interested in Bible prophecies, and how they apply to the world we live in today, the resurrection and GOD's promised World Tomorrow. "And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite." Daniel 2:44 Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life, and everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all. " John 11:25-26 "No man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must be lifted up, that everyone believing in him may have everlasting life." John 3:13-15 Sonny is survived by his son, Eric Baird, Eric's wife Stephanie and their children, Mandy and Tyler all from Portland, Oregon, His eldest sister Beverly Dexheimer and her son Johnny Norby also from Portland, his sister Carol Wells and her husband Bernie from Hood River and Carol's son Michael Mills from Milwaukie, Wisconsin, aunts, uncles and cousins living in Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Missouri and Kansas and his friend Karen Bowie of Hood River, who was always there for him. He will be missed by his friends and family, especially those who understood him and accepted him; and "that wasn't always an easy thing to do". Bernie, Michael, Karen, Regina, Doug and Florence (and I am sure there are more), I thank you for your understanding, your patience, your friendship, your caring and your love for my brother. Thank you all for being here, it means so much to me and my family. If you would like to leave a note or tell about a memory you have of Sonny, please go to www.andersonstributecenter.com. I look forward to reading them. -Carol A. Wells "These things I command you, that you love one another." John 15:17
