Phyllis A. Walega, 77, of Highland Ave., New Castle, PA, passed away the evening of April 19, 2014 at Jameson hospital.

Born in New Castle, PA on September 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John D. & Martha V. Keely Kirkwood.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John J. Walega whom she married August 20, 1960 and who passed away on April 25, 2003.

Phyllis was a Real Estate agent since 1990 for Century 21 & Coldwell Banker. Prior to her Real Estate career she was a Region Manager for 23 years for Stanley Home Products representing seven states. She enjoyed camping, however her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Garcia and her husband, Ernesto of New Castle and her son, John D. Walega of New Castle; and two grandchildren, Cameron D. Walega and Kiana Garcia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Kirkwood and step-sister, Nora Kirkwood.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Road.

A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. Matthew Bupp, Chaplain of Celtic Hospice, officiating. Burial will take place at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
