David Prifer

David James Prifer, 37, of Hummelstown, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 17, 2014, in his home. Born in Harrisburg on June 2, 1976, he was the son of James D. Prifer of Harrisburg and Diane L. Schreffler Fagan wife of Robert of Campbelltown. Dave was a cook at the Brownstone Café, Middletown, and formerly a cook at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was a 1994 graduate of Palmyra High School. He was a member of Mountain View Bible Church, Hummelstown. Dave was a diehard Eagles fan, and avid fisherman, and had a passion for music; especially singing and playing guitar. He loved spending time with his children and family. In addition to his parents, Dave is survived by his wife of 8 years, Chrissy M. Wentz Prifer, whom he married on June 18, 2005; his children, Kyle Z. Prifer, Natalie M. Prifer, and the soon to be born, Carter J. Prifer; two brothers, Jason Prifer husband of Janet of Dillsburg, and Daniel Prifer of Campbelltown; a sister, Megan Huban wife of Andrew of Philadelphia; his maternal grandparents, Russell and Carolyn Schreffler of Harrisburg; and his paternal grandparents, Elaine Smith, and James Prifer husband of Pat, both of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Brayden J. Prifer, in February of 2006. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 6 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Christopher B. McAviney, officiating. Friends are invited to a viewing in the funeral home Monday from 5 PM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036, to help offset costs.
