William L. Michael

<p>William L. Michael, 77, of Union Township passed away the morning of April 15, 2014 at the Edison Manor and Rehabilitation Center. </p><p><br></p><p>Born in New Castle on July 13, 1936 in New Castle, William was the son of the late Orville and Virginia Cooper Michael. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, the former Sally L. McCune whom he married on December 31, 1957. </p><p><br></p><p>William was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he proudly designed a tool to measure the wear on brushes in aircraft motors without removing the engines. He had worked as a master industrial electrician for Babcock and Wilcox Corporation, Shenango China and for Koppel Steel, where he eventually retired from. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed computers. William also enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes. Above all else, William cherished the times with his family and will be sadly missed. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, William is survived by his two sons, William L. Michael, III and wife Dawn of New Wilmington; Robert L. Michael and wife Lisa Joseph of Union Township; his sister, Shirley Michael of Warren, OH; one grandchild, Bryar Michael; four step grandchildren, George, Amber, Elizabeth, Joshua and three step great grandchildren, Macinley, Nevaeh and Sean. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation is Friday from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. </p><p><br></p><p>A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10AM officiated by Rev. Patricia Harbison of the New Wilmington United Methodist Church. </p><p><br></p><p>The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military honors at the funeral home on Saturday. </p><p><br></p><p>Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. </p>
