James Hoffer

James E. Hoffer, 61, of Hummelstown, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Harrisburg on September 4, 1952, he was the son of the late Harold H. and Margaret M. Hackman Hoffer. Jim was a custodian at Lower Dauphin High School and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, both of Hummelstown. He was a 1970 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, where he also wrestled. Jim was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. He enjoyed woodworking, and collected clocks and nutcrackers. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Bonnie L. Hinkle Hoffer, whom he married on November 19, 1981; two sons, Andrew L. Hoffer fiancée of Lyz Via of Grantville, and Kevin L. Corty, Jr. husband of Nichole of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Adrianne L. Vogie wife of Dustin of Hummelstown; two brothers, William E. Hoffer husband of Deborah G. of Hershey, and Bryant E. Hoffer of Palmyra; one sister, Dr. Barbara A. Hoffer of Birdsboro; and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 6 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Bryan O. Hoke, officiating. Friends are invited to a viewing in the funeral home Thursday from 5 PM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
