Lucy N. (Baker) Filips, 91, Of Orlando, FL, formerly of Decatur, IN passed away on April 11, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Orlando, FL. She was born on Thursday, July 6th, 1922 in Adams County, IN, to the late Fred E. and Amelia R. (Kohne) Baker. Lucy was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where she was an active volunteer. She was a graduate of Decatur Catholic High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. Lucy was a registered nurse at Adams Memorial Hospital and then volunteered there for many years. She is survived by sons Steven N. (Betty Jo) Filips of Mound, MN and Fred J. (Marie) Filips of Decatur; a daughter Beth (Michael) Maura of Orlando, FL; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Lucy was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, and one daughter-in-law. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Officiating will be Father David Voors and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Building On Our Heritage.
