Fort Edward – Helen (Komsa) Havens, 85, formerly of State Route 4, passed away on Tuesday, April 08, 2014 at the Northeast Center For Special Care in Lake Katrine, NY after a long illness. Born on April 15, 1928, in Meriden, CT, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Olga (Supanovich) Komsa. Helen worked at Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Fort Edward for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and especially loved gardening. Helen single handedly raised her four children. Besides her parents, Helen is predeceased by her brothers Walter and John Komsa and a sister Anna McLean She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Steves and her husband Scott of Clifton Park, her three sons, Scott Havens and his wife Barbra of Fort Edward, Mark Havens and his wife Laurie of Argyle, and Chris Havens and his wife Jennifer of Hudson Falls. Helen is survived by 5 grandchildren; Michael Steves of Clifton Park; Vanessa and Alison Havens of Argyle; and John and Cara Havens of Hudson Falls; and many cousins. At Helen’s request there will be no calling hours or services. Donations may be made in Helen’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are in care of the M.B.
