Lenore Nearhood

Lenore V. Dunn Nearhood, 101, formerly of Hershey, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, in Frey Village, Middletown. Born in Port Royal on April 6, 1912, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Etta Walters Dunn. Lenore was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of Fishburn United Methodist Church, Hershey. Lenore enjoyed flower gardening. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her. Lenore was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Nearhood, on November 21, 1989; her son, Mervin R. Nearhood, on December 28, 1956; five sisters; and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Emily B. Leib Nearhood of Hershey; two granddaughters, Cheryl L. Nearhood of Hershey and Jeanette K. Cepietz wife of Joe of Middletown; three great grandchildren, Erica C. Marquette, Scott J. Cepietz, and Kimberly A. Cepietz; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2014, at 11 AM in the Frey Village Chapel, 1020 North Union Street, Middletown, with The Rev. John H. Kratz, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Fishburn Cemetery, Hershey. Friends will be received for a viewing in the chapel on Friday from 10 AM until time of the service. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Frey Village, 1020 North Union Street, Middletown, PA 17057.
