Winifred Smith

Winifred Ilene Brewer Smith, 87, of Winchester, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Blue Ridge Hospice In-Patient Care Center. Mrs. Smith was born September 17, 1926 in Winchester, VA; the daughter of the late Floyd W. and Ada Ritenour Brewer. She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was member of Relief United Methodist Church and Middle Road Home Makers. Was a counselor for Methodist Youth Fellowship, and volunteered at Mount Airy 4H Club. She married Donald L. Smith on January 17, 1947 in Winchester, VA. Along with her husband of 67 years, she is survived by; three children, Sharon L. Boyd and husband Charles of Winchester, VA, Rose S. White of Winchester, VA and Cindy L. Bouch of Winchester, VA; three sisters, Dorothy Snapp of Winchester, VA, Anna Marie VanTassel of Franklin, NJ and Mary Ann Chrisman of Richmond, VA; four brothers, Johnnie Brewer of Winchester, VA, Elwood Brewer of Winchester, VA, Charles Brewer of Winchester, VA and Frankie Brewer of Weaverville, NC; three grandchildren, Scott Boyd and wife Kelly, Stacy Sipe and husband Mike and Amy Ahern and husband Donald; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4-6 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. Aaron W. Fitch officiating.
