Georgie Owens, age 84, 113 Norris Street, Erwin, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 21, 2014, following a brief illness. She was a native of Bristol, Va and a daughter of the late George and Daisy Moore Wheeler. Mrs. Owens had resided in Unicoi County for the the past 12 years. She was a member of Lower Higgins Creek Church Of God. Mrs. Owens loved to sing and play the mandolin with her husband in The Old Cross Roads Gospel Singers. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Rollins, one brother, G. W. Wheeler, and one half-brother, Bill Cox. Mrs. Owens is survived by her loving husband of twelve years, Cecil Owens, one daughter, Georgia Callahan and husband, Billy, Bristol TN; two sons: Lynn Hall and wife, Beth, Philadelphia, PA, and Timothy Hall and wife Donna, Lansdale, PA; three step-sons: Harold C. Owens and wife, Sherry, Gray, TN, Glenn Owens, and wife, Becky, Birmingham, AL, and Ronald Charles Miller, San Antonio, TX; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Louise Huff, Bristol, VA, special sister-in-law, Margaret Wheeler, Blountville, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Owens will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Darren Shelton will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Callahan, Lynn Hall, Tim Hall, Austin Light, Brendon Light, and Tim Callahan. The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the funeral service between the hours of 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and other times at the family residence. The committal service for Mrs. Owens will be held Monday, March 24,2014, at 1:45 pm from V.A. Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Those attending the service will meet at 12:45 pm at Robert Ledford Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery.
