Raymond Hanshaw

Raymond Lee Hanshaw, 64, of Hummelstown, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Harrisburg on October 2, 1949, he was the son of Anna L. Hanshaw Hoffman of Annville and the late Taylor Bechtel. Ray retired from the civil mechanical & engineering squadron of the Air Force Reserves. He was previously employed as a service technician in the shipping & receiving department for Highway Equipment Corp., a stock clerk for Target, and did construction for the former Olin L. Miller Corporation. Ray was a 1968 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, Hummelstown. He was a member of the Veteran’s Motorcycle Club. Ray enjoyed hunting, tinkering, and playing softball. In addition to his mother, Ray is survived by his daughter, Lorie A. Hanshaw of Hummelstown; several step brothers and sisters; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 1 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Richard R. Hanshaw, Jr., his cousin, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Viewings will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Thursday from 12 noon until time of the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, 120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington D.C. 20005 or by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org. The family wishes to thank Dan Fisher for keeping their roads open this winter so Raymond could receive his treatments and be nursed by his caregivers.
