Obituary:

Graveside services for Annell Fullerton, 85, will be held at 2:00 PM, Mon., Jan. 6, 2014 in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, with Don Thomas officiating. All of her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. In addition, the family would like to express special thanks to Rosemary Watkins, who was her dear friend and caretaker.

Annell Fullerton was born Mar. 21, 1928 in Snyder, TX to the home of Frances (McGaha) and E. O. Whitaker, and died Jan. 2, 2014 in Eastland, TX. The Whitaker family homesteaded in the Lingo community when she was very young. She attended school at Rogers, where she graduated in 1946. After graduation, Annell attended Eastern New Mexico University. On July 13, 1947, in Portales, she was married to Ray Fullerton. Over the next several years, they farmed in the Rogers community. Mrs. Fullerton was not only a wife, and mother to four children, but also Mr. Fullerton’s main farm hand. Mrs. Fullerton was a wonderful cook. She rose early each morning to prepare a hearty breakfast, and sent him off to a full day’s work with plenty to see him through till the work was done. Each year, she raised a plentiful garden of vegetables which she canned and used throughout the year. She was also a wonderful seamstress, sewing for her daughters and herself.

As a mother, she was a patient, soft spoken teacher. She taught her children to work, to cook, and most importantly, to know the Lord. She was not only a teacher to her own children, but to every child she came in contact with.

In 1958, the family moved to Baldwin Park, CA. While living there, she worked as Office Manager in the school system. In 1984, they retired, and returned to the family farm in Rogers. She was an active member of the Dora Baptist Church, and again, assumed the daily duties of farm life. In 2005, she moved to Carbon, TX to make her home with her oldest son.

Mrs. Fullerton was wife to a man that she adored, a devoted mother, a very involved grandmother, an aunt, a sister, and a loyal friend. She was patient, kind, hospitable and generous to everyone. She was the embodiment of the fruit of the Sprit.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl and Sarah Fullerton of Carbon, TX and Jay and Sharon Fullerton of McKinleyville, CA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ricki Cheryl Goodwin of Price, UT and Ranelle and Michael Tweedy of Clovis; nine grandchildren, Darryl (Julie) Fullerton, Jr., James (Jessica) Watkins, Billy Berel, Sammy Berel, Jaeson Goodwin, Justin (Sommer) Goodwin, Brandi Goodwin, Scott (Janay) Tweedy and Annie Tweedy; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Violet Wilkerson of Portales as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, J. L. Whitaker, two sisters, Mary Lou King and Fannie Belle Carr, a granddaughter, Patricia Berel, and by her beloved husband, Ray, who died Feb. 23, 2002 after more than 54 years of marriage.
