George Morin Obituary

It is with much sadness that the family of George Alfred Morin, 78, of Lunenburg announces his passing on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Chapeau, Quebec, on January 21, 1935, he was a son of the late Michael and Marjorie (Lahemer) Morin. George spent a large portion of his life working for Alcan Aluminum Inc. where he worked up the ranks to his final position,Vice President of Metal Marketing. He and Lois came to reside in Lunenburg in 1994 where they operated the Lion’s Inn Restaurant and B & B until 2005. Over the years he was a member of the Lunenburg Board of Trade, he enjoyed cross country skiing and golfing, and many will remember him for his love of cooking. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family; He was a dedicated husband and a wonderful father who adored his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Golowesky), daughter, Mindi (Lucas), San Francisco; sons, Chris (Leslie), Ottawa; Tim (Maria), Hamilton, ON; sisters, Marjorie (Randy) Reed, Barbara (Michael) McGarry, both of Ottawa; brother, Michael (Janey) Morin, Aylmer, Quebec; four grandchildren, Robyn, Abigail, Lucas and Cesare. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Alex. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and where a memorial service to celebrate George’s life will be held, Friday, December 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Robert Zinck, officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Harbour View Haven Home for their wonderful care given to George in these past few years and a special thanks to all the caregivers at the Back Harbour Unit for always caring for him with such dignity.
