Barbara V. (Scondras) Lizotte, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died January 28, 2013, at her home, after a period of declining health, aged 90 years.
Born in Lowell, December 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Katina (Ivos) Scondras. She received her early education in the Lowell public schools, and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1942.
During her teenage years, Mrs. Lizotte worked with her father at the family-owned restaurant, the former “Deluxe Café” on Merrimack Street.
Shortly after the start of WWII, Barbara began to study nursing. When her brother was killed in action during the war, she selflessly gave up her nursing ambitions to care for her mother.
In 1964, Mrs. Lizotte became associated with Honeywell, working as a Quality Inspector for the Computer Division in both the Lowell and Lawrence offices. She retired in 1986 after twenty-two years of service.
Mrs. Lizotte was a devout member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.
She is survived by a son, Albert L. Lizotte of Lowell, a sister, Helen Hash of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
