Grantha Haines Obituary

Grantha Mae Haines, 83, of Bunker Hill, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Heartland of Martinsburg. Born May 19, 1929 in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Burr Powell and Naomi Ruth Heavner Powell. She was a member of Mt. View Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Haines, along with her husband, Alvin, was the former owner of Capon Bridge Service Station, Haines Market and Fuel, Haines Mobile Home Court, and Haines Hardware Store of Inwood. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Collis and husband, Gary, of Bunker Hill; two grandchildren, David R. Collis, of Bunker Hill, and Tara R. Collis-Wooten and husband, Thomas, of Bunker Hill; five great-grandchildren, Amber Collis, Rebecca Harshman, Thomas Presley, Addison Collis and Conner Wooten; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Williamson, of Marlowe, and Faye Haines, of Stephens City, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Russell Haines, on May 11, 2009. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Brown Funeral Home’s South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with the Rev. Raymond Martin officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Collis, Thomas Wooten, Linden Heavner, Jerry Hartman, Joe Cheshire and Shawn Williamson. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24th, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bunker Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 9203 Winchester Avenue, Bunker Hill, WV 25413; Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403; or a charity of one’s choice.
