Ryan Mischa Knapp, 24, passed away August 27, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital. The rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm, Friday, August 31st at St. Elizabeth Church, 75th and Main St., Kansas City, MO followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Saturday at St. Elizabeth Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in memory of Ryan Knapp to Hazelden Patient Aid Program, Attn: Treasury Services-RW7, P.O. Box 11, Center City, MN 55012.
Ryan was born June 27, 1988 in Danbury, CT. He attended Trumbull and Fairfield High Schools in Connecticut, where he excelled in a variety of sports, but especially football and lacrosse. His love of football followed him to Chicago, where he coached the Mt. Greenwood Colts 7th & 8th grade boys team. He attended Harold Washington College in Chicago, IL. Chicago is also where he met his future wife, Carolyn. They moved to Kansas City in the summer of 2010 with plans of starting a family.
Ryan married Carolyn Fendler on July 29, 2011. She and their daughter, Ady, were the loves of Ryan’s life, and the best of his days were spent with them. He was a loving husband and father, whose number one priority was always his family. He also found great joy in being “Uncle Wyan” to Ady’s cousins.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and June Knapp. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ann Knapp and their daughter, Adelyn Rose Knapp; his mother, Donna Knapp; father, Darin Knapp and wife Ines; siblings, Jarid and Ashley Knapp; grandparents, Martin and Jeanette Walsh; father and mother-in-law, Kermit and Ellen Fendler; aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ryan had an entrepreneurial spirit, always trying to find ways to use his talents to help other people. Ryan’s creative spirit and engaging personality will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
