Ruby Motz

Ruby Burnette Motz, 97, passed away Wednesday July 4, 2012 at Pineville Rehab and Living Center in Pineville, NC. She was a native of Lancaster County. Born July 28, 1914, daughter of the late Charles Baxter and Ola Roberts Burnette. She was an Auxiliary Volunteer at Piedmont Medical Center, a member of Catawba Chapter of Eastern Star and member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Houston O. Motz, Sr. Surviving are her five children, Nancy Motz Adkins and her husband Billy of Rock Hill, Caroline Motz Yergens of San Diego, CA, Marie Motz Nesbit of Nags Head, NC, Houston O. “Buddy” Motz, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of Rock Hill, James P. Motz of Nags Head, NC, a sister Iris B. Hughes of Rock Hill, a sister-in-law Margaret Burnette of Rock Hill, Nine grandchildren Tom Adkins (Bonnie), Peggy Green (Tim), David Adkins (Kelley), Troy Motz (Marty), Mark Motz(Jocelyn), Michelle Nesbit (Rick), Christopher Yergens (Vonia), Jake and Rusty Motz, also nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:00am in Laurelwood Cemetery with Reverend Debra Quilling-Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Building Fund, 321 S. Oakland Ave. Rock Hill, SC 29730.
