Paul C. Kennedy Obituary

Paul C. (Pops) Kennedy, 91, of Links Dr. passed away the morning of April 18, 2012 at Jameson Hospital.


Born in Castlewood, Pa. on April 9, 1921, Paul was the son of the late John C. and Estella Houk Kennedy. He married the former Dorothy Bruno and she preceded him in death on April 10,1967. He then married the former Margaret Paul and she preceded him in death on October 28, 1987. Paul was U.S. Army veteran and served during the European Theater of WWII while stationed in southern France.


Paul was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.


He retired from the US Steel Corporation Ellwood City Tube Mill after thirty four years working as a Melter Helper. Paul was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp #125, United States Steel Workers of America, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a avid reader and enjoyed yard work and gardening. Paul's family and friends meant everything to him and he cherished the times he spent with them.


He is survived by two daughters, Carol Richards and husband Dennis of New Castle; Michelle Griffin and husband John of Columbia, SC; two brothers, John Kennedy, Donald Kennedy, both of New Castle; a sister, Betty Geneviva of Ellwood City; two grandchildren, Paul Richards and wife Joanna, Kristian Richards and wife Keira and three great-grandchildren, Kathy Richards, Chloe Richards and Delilah Richards.


In addition to his parents and spouses, Paul is preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Kennedy, Clair Kennedy, Merle Kennedy and four sisters, Catherine Baker, Anna Nene, Margaret Miller and Thelma St. John.


Visitation is Friday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.


Services will be held on Saturday morning at 11AM at the funeral home. Rev. James Hockenberry, pastor of Harmony Baptist Church will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the funeral home.


Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
