INDIAN TRAIL – Rev. Phil Chaney, 52, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at First Baptist Church Indian Trail. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 Friday at the church.
Rev. Chaney was born September 24, 1959, in Geneva, IL, and was the son of the late Harold Edward Chaney and Ruth Young Chaney of Indian Trail. Phil graduated from Indiana University in 1982 with a BS Degree in Vocal Performance and Business as well as receiving his Master’s in Music in 1984. He was ordained into the ministry in March of 1985, at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood, IN, where he served in the areas of youth and music from 1984 until 1988. Phil also served as Minister of Music at Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, from 1988 until 2003 and has currently served as the Associate Pastor of Worship at First Baptist Church Indian Trail for the past nine years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Koral; sons, Benjamin Philip Chaney and wife, Courtney, and David Jonathon Chaney; daughters, Kirstyn Johanna Chaney, Kathryn Suzanna Chaney and Karalyn Auburn Chaney and 2 children in Heaven; and brother, Michael Allen Chaney.
