Dr. Carmen S. Nuccio, of Enfield, CT, husband of 43 years of Sandra (Hartmann) Nuccio, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. He was born on July 4, 1930 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, a son of the late Samuel and Jennie (Scavotto) Nuccio. He graduated from Enfield High School, American International College and the Georgetown University School of Dentistry. Dr. Nuccio served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a Bronze Service Star. He opened his practice in Enfield in 1959 and enormously enjoyed serving the community for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and golfer. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, his children and grandchildren: Sheree Winans and her husband, Keith, and their son, Jack; Lauree Barnes and her husband, Derek, and their children, Samantha and Riley; Carmen Nuccio, Jr. and his wife, Melissa (Fiore), and their children, Olivia and Carmen, III. He also leaves his sisters, Nattie Koetsch and her husband, Wally, and Mick Love and her husband, Drew; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., for a procession to St. Patrick’s Church, High Street, Enfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 26, 2011, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
