Charles Vincent Obituary

Charles M. Vincent, 73, of Round Pond, passed away on the evening of November 4th at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with his son by his side. Born on January 11, 1938 in New York, NY, Charles was the son of Leland and Annie (Marble) Vincent. Charles grew up in Connecticut, graduating from the Taft School for Boys in Watertown, Connecticut. He would go on to graduate from Hamilton College in 1960 with an A.B. degree and then from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC with a master’s degree. He married the late Susan (Madden) Vincent and the couple gave birth to a son Leland G. Vincent, II in 1971. Charles started his working career for an advertising agency but quickly moved into banking. He started with Fidelity before going to the Bank of New York and eventually to PNC Financial, where he would retire as Vice President of Equity Research. The couple, who resided in Strafford, PA, spent summers in Maine from 1988 – 1996 until Susan passed away. Shortly after her death, Charles moved to Maine and since 1999, has called Round Pond home. Charles was a member of the Odd Fellows, as well as the Round Pond United Methodist Church where he was an active volunteer. He was an avid collector of all things trains including videos, books and model trains. He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Ann Gray Parshall in 2004. Charles, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Chick” or “Grand-Dad” is survived by his loving son Leland and daughter-in-law Staci of Orange Village, OH and by doting grandsons Ryan and Caden Vincent. A funeral will be held at 10:00am, on Monday, November 7th at the Round Pond United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556; or to the Round Pond United Methodist Church, PO Box 92, Round Pond, ME 04564.
