Elizabeth Silva Obituary

Lifelong Grays Harbor resident Elizabeth (Betty) Silva passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a long battle with heart disease. Betty was born November 4, 1953 in Aberdeen to Joyce Olive Edwards and George Thomas Peppard. She was raised in the Wishkah Valley by her mother and step-father George Kuzmak, whom she referred to as “Daddy”. Betty attended Aberdeen High School and graduated in 1971 from St. Ephrasia Catholic School in Seattle. In 1972 she married Charles Kinnaman in Aberdeen, they later divorced and she married Jose Silva in Aberdeen. Betty is survived by her sons, Robert Kinnaman of Tacoma and Michael (Angela) Kinnaman of Aberdeen; six grandchildren: Elaina, Mandy, Andrew, Kyla, Jacquelin, Jessica Jean and sisters: Cindy (Steve) Kinnaman and Christine (Leland) Evenmoe both of Aberdeen and Katherine Weaver of Grayland, numerous nieces and nephews as well as several foster children and special friends: Henry, Lynn, Michelle, Sadie and Tania. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Peppard, Joyce and George Kuzmak, brother Andrew Kuzmak and nephew Andrew Schafer. Betty worked in restaurants and shingle mills on Grays Harbor. Her last and favorite jobs were as dispatcher for the Aberdeen Fire Dept. and Ocean Shores Police Dept. As a child and young woman before her health problems began: Betty was fearless, willing to try any stunt, laughing, singing and dancing her way through life. She had a beautiful voice and could play any musical instrument she picked up. She was compassionate, loving all people and animals and always owned a dog which she thought was brilliant and hilarious. She had a real aptitude for linguistics and translated for patients in doctor’s offices as well as helping file immigration paperwork and tax returns. Poetry was a real passion for Betty and she had her works published in two books by the American Poetry Society. Anyone who was a friend knew she loved the Mariner’s and followed Kyle Bush in NASCAR. Th family wishes to thank Drs. Gibbs and Pierce as well as all of the Harborview staff for their caring and compassion over the years. Visitation for Betty will be from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21st in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary, 311 W. Market St. in Aberdeen. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m., Thursday at Fern Hill Cemetery.
