Nicholas Mati

Nicholas Mati age 91 of Trumbull, beloved husband of Irene (Petrunchik) Mati died peacefully on March 9, 2019 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Taylor Pa. December 16, 1927, he was the son of the late Nicholas Paul and Elizabeth Mati Vancisin. A graduate of Warren Harding High School class of 1945 and the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Early in his life he enjoyed boy scouts and camping with friends. He moved his family to Trumbull in 1965. He and his wife developed a passion for gardening. She was a member of the Long Hill Garden Club which featured their yard/gardens one summer on their Garden Tour. In addition to his beloved wife of 66 years, he is survived by a son Nicholas Paul Mati of Longmont Colorado and a daughter Cathy Mati Rogers of Fort Collins Colorado and grandsons Aaron and James Rogers and Nicholas and Alexander Mati. And two sisters Ann Mati Bashar of Shelton and Lillian Vancisin Danowski of Oxford. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Tuesday, March 12th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. with Panaheda Service at 4:30 in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 12:30 pm in the funeral home with the Reverend David Cochrane followed by interment at St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. If desired in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Carpatho-Russian Church Mill Hill Ave in memory of Nicholas.
