Alta Madeline (Johnson) Franks was born September 1, 1904 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to James W. and Bertie (Blankenship) Johnson. She passed from this life October 20, 2009 in Antlers, Oklahoma, at the age of 105.
Alta married W. N. "Joe" Franks on October 30, 1924 in Hugo, Oklahoma. They were married for 76 years before his passing in 2001. She was a dedicated Church of Christ member and a member of the Ladies Bible Class. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, sewing, crocheting, and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Alta is preceded in death by her husband: W. N. "Joe" Franks; four grandchildren: Teresa Owen, Jimmy Franks, Jr., Shirley Ann Franks, & Peggy Sue Franks, parents: James & Bertie Johnson; four brothers; one sister; and in-laws: Wilma Franks, Bernice Franks, Anna Lou Franks, & Tommy Smith.
She is survived by her children: Harold Franks of Antlers, Jimmy Franks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Walter Noble Franks, Jr. & wife Virginia of Finley, Freda Wood of Sherman, Texas, Fern Smith of Antlers, Jack Franks & wife Bobbie of Antlers; grandchildren: Ponda Brick, Brent Franks, Judy VanCuren, Susie Harberson, Joe Franks, Craig Franks, Jonathan Wood, Sandra Carter, David Lynn Smith, Glenn Ray Smith, Cindy Smith, Jerry Franks; numerous great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Elda Avery of California, Cleo Denny of California, & Bonnie Berry of Altus, Oklahoma; as well as many other relatives and friends.
