Virginia Delaney

Virginia D. “Ginger” Delaney, 79, a 51 year East Wenatchee and former Rock Island resident, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Riverwest Assisted Living in Wenatchee. She was born on April 15, 1931 at Borger, Texas. She spent her early years growing up in Texas and Colorado. Her family moved to Snohomish where she started high school prior to making their home in Everett. She met Clare B. Delaney in 1955 in Everett and they were later married on April 18, 1959 in East Wenatchee. They made their first home together in East Wenatchee, where they remained until moving to Rock Island in 1961. They returned to East Wenatchee in 1976 and have since continued to make their home in East Wenatchee. Virginia went to work at Stan’s Merry Mart, in 1969 and continued working there for the next 33 years before retiring in 2002. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening, jewelry and going to plays at the Performing Arts Center. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverwest Assisted Living in Wenatchee for their excellent care. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Clare B. Delaney, East Wenatchee; six children and their spouses, Jim Ward & Alice Anda, San Diego, CA, Linda & Bob Hodgen, Rexburg, ID, Dan & Brenda Delaney, Manson, WA, Bill & Karen Delaney, East Wenatchee, Sue & Richard Sinclair, Wenatchee and Rhea & Jim Blankenship, Corvallis, MT; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Paula Harmon, one granddaughter, one niece and two nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date. Those that wish may make memorial donations in her name to C.W.H. Home Health and Hospice. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
