William Harris Obituary

On September 1, 2009 William J Harris Sr. passed away after a long illness. He graduated in 1963 from Westwood High School. His occupation was a welder for General Dynamics at the Quincy ship yard. He was survived by his children William J Harris Jr. and Dawn Harris both from Wareham. Mr. Harris was born and raised in Brighton Massachusetts before moving to Wareham in 1973. Mr. Harris was involved in the community and he enjoyed family. His passions were camping, scouting and wood working. He also devoted his free time to help build Lopes Park in Onset, Mass. He was a life member at Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club also Monument Beach Club. He was also the Scout Leader for Troop 39 of Wareham. Mr. Harris was also involved with the Lions Club and the Toys for Tots Annual Drive. Mr. Harris is survived by a sister and five brothers; Barbara M. Parson of Yarmouth Mass, Ernest M. Harris of New Hampshire, Roy F. Harris of Brockton Mass, Stephen P. Harris of Norwood Mass, James R. Harris of Westwood Mass, Thomas W. Harris of Florida. He was also the Grandfather of Joel Ameida, Cortney Casey and Cody Harris all of Wareham. He was the Great Grandfather of Joel Almeida Jr. and Kyle Sylvia also of Wareham. He was the son of Late Mary C. Harris and Ernest L. Harris Sr. of Westwood Mass.
