William Burke

Millinocket – William P. Burke, 90, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at a Millinocket health care facility. He was born August 4, 1925 in Millinocket, the son of William P. and Anna Mary (Thebeau) Burke. He was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1942. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-46, where he served on the LSM 226 (Landing Ship) as an Electrician Mate. Bill worked for the Great Northern Paper Company for 45 years. He married Arlene Dishon on May 6, 1952. She died February 7, 2004. Bill is survived by a daughter, Susan York and her husband Arthur; a son, William P. Burke, III and his wife Susan; three grandchildren, William Burke IV, Rachael Jandreau, and John Burke; six great grandchildren, Bradley Sabine, Tristan Burke, Rebecca Jandreau, Connor Burke, Trevor Jandreau, and Joshua Jandreau; a special nephew, Wayne Burke and wife Tamara; a special niece, Fayette Austin; and a good friend, Joyce Sweeney. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. Gifts in memory of Bill may be sent to Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
