Merceda Gesue, 93, of New Castle, passed away the evening of June 19, 2016 at Avalon Nursing Center. Born on January 22, 1923 in New Castle, PA, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Angeline Diorio Delliquadri. On July 11, 1946, she married her beloved husband, Emil Gesue, and the two of them spent 39 years together until he preceded her in death on May 21, 1986.

For 25 years, Merceda volunteered at Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Camillus Church. An avid reader, Merceda loved visiting the public library. She also was known a world class baker and cook.

Merceda is survived by her son, David A. Gesue and wife Helen of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Edward Delliquadri of New Castle; sister, Lena Delliquadri of New Castle; three grandchildren, Phillip and Erika Gesue, Nicholas and Jessica Gesue, and Margaret and Ally Livilsberger; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Guy, Phillip, Francis, and Lawrence Delliquadri.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Blessing services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon John Carran.

Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
