Mary Lou Cooper, 69, of Atchison, KS, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 in Atchison. Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in honor of Mary Lou are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Words of sympathy and remembrance may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com Mary Lou Diebolt was born December 15, 1946 in Horton, KS the daughter of Warren and Mary (Studer) Diebolt. Mary Lou attended school in Denton and graduated from Midway High in 1964. After high school, Mary Lou attended a business school in Topeka. Mary Lou worked as a bookkeeper for many companies in the Atchison Area, including, Lincoln Grain Company, White Cloud Grain Company, Stecher CPA firm, MO-KAN Concrete; and Hundley Construction Company (2004-2015). After Mary Lou’s retirement in 2015, she continued to work with her sister, Linda, at Bookkeeper’s Etc. Mary Lou bowled on the Strong’s Body Shop bowling team for over 20 years; she enjoyed fishing; water skiing, having taught many nieces and nephews how to water ski; and the yearly family camping trip to Pomme de Terre Lake in southwest Missouri. Mary Lou and L.G. also participated in and attended area and State Fair tractor pulls for many years. Mary Lou and Lawrence G. ‘L.G.’ Cooper were married on November 3, 1972 in Atchison, KS. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, L. G. Cooper, of the home; three sisters, Dolores Gudenkauf, Ozwakie, KS, Diann Hull, Grove, OK, and Linda Genail, Atchison; brother, John Diebolt, Denton, KS; fourteen nieces and nephews; thirty great nieces and nephews; seven great-great nieces and nephews; Sandra Streeter, who was like a sister to Mary Lou; and YoYo, her beloved cat. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mary Diebolt and a sister Joetta Lodholz.
