East Millinocket – Gloria P. Hendsbee, 87, passed away Tuesday June 14, 2016 at the Millinocket Regional Hospital while surrounded by her husband Donald and her five children. She was born November 26, 1928 in Anson, the daughter of John M. and Goldie M. (Porter) Longley. Gloria grew up in Anson and graduated from Madison High School in 1946. She then married Donald Hendsbee on August 31, 1946. Gloria and Donald moved to East Millinocket in 1954 and raised their five children. She started volunteering at the Katahdin Friends Inc. and then went to college at the University of Farmington, majoring in early childhood development. Gloria continued working at K.F.I. for twenty five more years touching the lives of many people she came in contact with. Gloria and Donald loved to travel and went on many trips across North America but were always glad to come home to be with the people whom they loved the most, their family. Gloria was a woman of faith who lived as she believed “ It was God first, the other fellow second, I’m third” and her love was abundant for all In addition to her husband of seventy years Donald Hendsbee of East Millinocket, she leaves behind, Sandy Saucedo of East Millinocket, Gail Hamm and her husband Ed of East Millinocket, Bonnie Gallant and her husband Dan of Woodville, Donald Hendsbee and his wife Barbara of East Millinocket, Laurie York and her husband Steve of East Millinocket, “Grammie Gogo’s” eleven grandchildren, Ken, Michele, Jerry, Sonja, Ed, Michelle, Brian, Amy, Julie, Jason, Bubba, and twenty nine great grandchildren, along with four great-great grandchildren with two on the way. She also leaves behind four siblings, Richard Longley and his wife Cora of Emden, Dorothy Fleming of Springfield, IL, Patricia LeBlanc and her husband Bob of Jay, Donna Longley of Millinocket, sister-in-law Margaret Cowan of Madison, along with several nieces and nephews and a special friend Larry Lyons. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by son-in-law Raul Saucedo, four grandchildren, Terry, Jeremy, Stephen Jr., Nicole, and her sister Bethany, and her brother-in-law Bob Fleming. She was also predeceased by a special friend Sara Roy. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM Satuday, June 18 at the Lamson Funeral Home 11 Tamarack St. Millinocket. Funeral services will be conducted 1pm Sunday, June 19 at the First Congregational Church in East Millinocket 11 Maple St. with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating. Interment will follow the service at East Millinocket Cemetery, East Millinocket. The family invites relatives and friends for refreshments at the church fellowship hall following the interment. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make gifts in Gloria’s memory to the Katahdin Friends Inc. 1024 Central St. Millinocket ME, 04462.
