Jeanette A. “Jan” Secaur, 78, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at her residence. She was born on January 13, 1938, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of Edward and Florence (Hartnagel) Knoth. On March 25, 1961, she married Ronald E. Secaur; he preceded her in death on June 7, 2005. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and of its Rosary Society. She retired in 2001, from Adams Memorial Hospital, where she was a Registered Nurse for 40 years. Jan is survived by her mother, Florence C. Haney of Decatur; 2 sons, Jeffrey A. Secaur of Rockford, OH and Kenneth J. (Allison) Secaur of Mishawaka; 5 daughters, Melissa R. (Marty) Simonson, Nicole J. (Gary) Strait, Jennifer L. (Bruce) Girard all of Decatur, Stephanie R. (Tim) Schlemmer of Ohio City, OH and Sarah J. (Dennis) Hain of Decatur; a brother, Richard E. (Pat) Knoth of Portland; a sister, Carolyn L. Carpenter of Massillon, OH; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her father, Edward Knoth. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Officiating will be Father Bob J. Lengerich and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School Tuition Assistance.
