Phyllis Petry

Phyllis Catlett Petry, 79, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 in Roanoke, VA. Mrs. Petry was born December 16, 1936 and raised in Frederick County, VA; the daughter of the late Harry Gilbert Catlett and Hilda Virginia Catlett. She was a graduate of James Wood High School Class of 1955. She worked for Novick Tranfser before relocating to Roanoke where she had a distinguished career with Piedmont Aviation which later became U. S. Airways. Phyllis was a very kind and loving member of her family. She enjoyed living on Smith Mountain Lake and making yearly beach trips to South Carolina. She is survived by her daughter, Barbie Kelly; her son, Marion Joseph Petry, Jr.; her sister, Geraldine “Gerrie” Fisher and her brother, Richard C. Catlett. Along with her parents Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Joseph “Pete” Petry; her daughter, Pattie Petry; her son, Jeffrey Allen Hodgson; brothers, Kenneth Joseph Catlett and Harold William Catlett and her two lovable boxers, Duke and King. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2016 from 2:00 4:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Philip Brumback officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Alzheimers Association, 411 North Cameron Street #267, Winchester, VA.
