Richard “Dick” L. Brown, 90, of Hummelstown, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home. <br> Born in Summerdale on November 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Philip and Catherine Brown.<br> Dick retired as the Plant Foreman for Hempt Brothers, Inc., Camp Hill. An U.S. Marine Corps veteran he fought bravely in the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. He was a proud member of The Bob Smith Detachment #784, Marine Corps League, Inc., Hummelstown. Dick was a great story teller sharing his experiences in the war and of his life. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. He enjoyed cutting fire wood, bowling, hunting, gardening, and wine making. Most important to Dick was spending time with his family.<br> He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther K. Brown, on October 3, 2009; by a great grandson, Seth A. Moreland; and several brothers and sisters.<br> Dick is survived by one daughter, Marie B. Moreland wife of Robert T. of Hummelstown; two grandsons, Matt R. Moreland husband of Pamela J. of Colonial Park, and Dave A. Moreland husband of Julie L. of West Hanover Township; and four great grandchildren, Briana, Bret, Riley, and Carly. He will be greatly missed by his family and beloved dog, Heather.<br> Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 11 AM in Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. John A. Schaefer, his pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery.
