Gilbert M. Hough Jr, 66, of Clear Brook, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family at his home after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He endured many health issues throughout his life but always had a positive outlook.
He was born March 23, 1950 in Ranson, WV; the son of Gilbert M. and Janie Sowers Hough. Gil had a very special way about him. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He loved his animals especially his cats and boxers, Berkley and Duke. Animals always found their way to Gil and he made sure to take them under his wing and care for them.
One of most cherished past times was supporting his boys during their childhood sporting events. In recent years he began playing cards and loved doing this with family and friends.
After retiring in 2007 from Food Lion in Berryville, VA as a butcher, he drove a bus for Winchester City Transit until January, 2011. He attended Berryville Baptist Church.
Gil married Diann Neff on July 30, 1976 in Winchester, VA
He is survived his wife ,Diann, the love of his life and best friend of 42 years; his loving Mother Jane; sons, Jason of Clear Brook and Jamey of Winchester, VA and many adoring friends and family.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday May 29, 2016 at Berryville Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Stanley officiating.
The family would like to thank his primary doctor, Dr. Gayland O. Hethcoat, MD and his oncologist, Dr. William O. Houck lll, MD and their staff for their special care.
