Dennis Perkins

Mr. Dennis Jorold Perkins, age 67, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (May 25, 2016) at his home. Born May 26, 1948 in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Ashby and Janive Oakley Coleman Perkins. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Koch Raven. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he had served in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Perkins. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Perkins; two sons, Aaron Perkins and wife, Seretta of Swords Creek, and Daniel Perkins and wife, Courtney of Swords Creek; one sister, Linda Hale of Swords Creek; one brother, Doug Perkins of Swords Creek; three grandchildren, Catherine Perkins, Jacklyn Perkins, and Lucas Perkins; one step-granddaughter, Seretta Hunt; special nephew, Timothy Perkins; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday with Bro. Jerry Hess officiating. Interment will follow in the Martin Cemetery on Stinson Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Nathan Hale, Brady Hale, Lonnie Perkins, Allen Martin, Brandon Hale, and Tim Perkins. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 1:00 PM on Thursday.
