Died suddenly on Saturday May 14, 2016 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 83. Bill of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Patricia (nee Kaakee) for almost 62 years. Loving father of Pat (Andy Jago), Betty Ann Barnes (Dexter Waters), Mary Jean Barnes and Bill Barnes Jr. (Jessica Day). Cherished grandfather of Danny (Christy) and Jaclyn (Scott) and to great grandchildren Luigi, Sam, Abigail and Troy. Dear brother of Philip (Heather) Barnes. Predeceased by his parents Sam and Christine Barnes, his sister Philis Barnes, his in-laws Herb and Verda Kaakee and Patricia's brother Herbie Kaakee. Bill and Patricia are the longtime proprietors of Cedar Grove Park On The Bay, a family business since 1944. They owned the Drumbeat and Cedar Grove Dance Halls, and still operate Cedar Grove Park and Mini Putt. Bill’s Christmas parades on July 25th and his famous corn roasts have been enjoyed by generations. He loved to dive and was known to many around the world at the best diving locations. Bill loved his community, his campers and especially his family. He will be missed. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Friday May 20, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Jubilee Presbyterian Church, 7320 Highway 26, Stayner at 11 a.m. Interment Stayner Union Cemetery.
