Lorraine Simpson Obituary

Lorraine Kay (Carter) Simpson passed away, peacefully, in the early morning hours of Monday May 9, 2016, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born on December 8, 1946 in Waldoboro, Maine to Hartwell Delancy Carter and Laura Emma (Murphy) Carter. Attending local schools, Lorraine graduated from Lincoln Academy in the class of 1964. She dearly loved the ocean and moved to the west coast near the Pacific Ocean when she married in 1969. After a career in the California school systems she moved back across the country to be near the Atlantic Ocean in her retirement. One of her favorite things was to take a lunch to Rachel Carson Preserve in New Harbor, Maine and watch the activities there. She made many friends throughout her lifetime and kept them all close through the years by writing frequent cards and letters--keeping a specific date book so that she would not forget a single birthday or anniversary. Her favorite past times were listening to country music, lunching with groups of friends, be it those from her childhood, her working adult years or the newer friends she made in retirement. She loved all things in nature, particularly bird watching, and relished the warmth of the afternoon sun. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, mother, father, and brother, Joel. Left to cherish Lorraine’s memory are her daughter Cindy Hull and husband Art of Martinez, California, her son Robert Simpson of Dallas, Texas, her sister Janet Chase and husband Stephen of Bristol, Maine, her grandchildren Richard Ray Hull and Natalie Alyssa Hull, of Martinez, California, sister-in-law Anne E. Carter, of Phippsburg, Maine, several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She will be greatly missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer. Donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to the Bremen Union Church 523 Waldoboro Road, Bremen, Maine 04551. Hall’s of Waldoboro has care of the arrangements.
