Matthew E. “Mattie” Barnes, 48, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Ft. Wayne, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Mattie was born in Fort Wayne, IN on March 11, 1968 to Matthew J. Barnes and Juanita (Torres) Palacios. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He was a 1986 graduate of Norwell High School. He formerly worked for Pearson Ford in Mooresville. Mattie’s gift of a sense of humor, as well as his love for sports, has allowed him to touch the lives of so many people. Mattie is survived by his father, Matthew J. (Judy) Barnes of Ft. Wayne; mother, Juanita (Alberto “Pop”) Palacios of Ft. Wayne; son, Taylor A. Barnes; daughter, Madison L. Barnes both of Indianapolis; brother, Michael C. (Michelle) Barnes of Zanesville; 2 sisters, Ana M. Barnes and Angie (Rusty) Wood both of Ft. Wayne; godmother, Maria “Josie” Bilger of Ft. Wayne; best friend and mother of his children, Terri L. Taylor of Indianapolis; 6 nieces, Devan, Whitney, Briana, Haley, Elizabeth, Mackenzie; 2 nephews, Garrett and Michael E. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eric S. Redwanski and his grandparents. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park, 6301 Fairfield Ave., Ft. Wayne, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Rd., Ft. Wayne, with calling 1 hour prior to Mass from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Father Lawrence Tetah will be officiating and a private burial will be held in the Prairie Grove Cemetery at a later date.
