FREY: Ervin Henry

Dec. 25, 1938 - May 4, 2016

Ervin was born December 25, 1938 to Emily (Dieno) and Fred Frey. He is the second oldest of four boys: Alvin, Ervin, Wilfred and Arnold, and one sister, Pearl. Ervin was baptised and confirmed at Eigenheim Church and is a member of Christ Lutheran. He attended the country school at Manitou Hill. On February 27, 1965 Ervin and Elaine were married and moved to the homestead to farm with their parents. Ervin loved animals and the life of farming, especially his herd of cattle. He found joy in watching the newborn calves run and dance. He loved the outdoors. Music and singing filled his days. Ervin worked hard in his farming years but always with much pride and thankfulness. He believed that farming, despite its hardships and disappointments, is the most honest and honorable way a man can spend his days on Earth. Darla and Greg grew up on the farm instilled with the same values. Family came first in Ervin’s life and he always found ways to connect with his extended family to share a laugh. He loved his four grandchildren very much and loved to tease them by giving them all nicknames. He took pride in their accomplishments and spending time with them. Left to cherish Ervin’s memory is Elaine, his loving wife of 51 years; his daughter Darla and Quintin, Declan and Jazlin of Saskatoon; his son Greg and Cindy, Curtis and Nicole of Young; his siblings Alvin and Inger of Watrous, Wilf and Carol of Martensville, Arnold and Ginger of Kelowna, B.C., and Pearl Magnuson of Saskatoon and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ervin was predeceased by an infant sister Linda in 1954, his mother Emily in 1983, his father Fred in 1991.
