Virgil Knifong

Virgil Knifong, 70, of Atkins, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at his home. He was born May 4, 1945, in Raspberry Knob, Arkansas, son of the late Samuel T. and Cora Abney Knifong. He graduated nursing school from Petit Jean Vo-Tech in 1981 where he was president of his class. He retired from nursing in 2009. He enjoyed nature and working with his cattle and flowers. He loved his weenie dogs, and especially loved his grandbabies. He was saved in August of 2013, and was a member of the Atkins First Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Samuel Knifong, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Emma Maggard and Leta Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Knifong; 3 sons, Todd Knifong and wife Tracy of Benton, Dusty Rhinehart and wife Aryn of Dardanelle, and Mike Rhinehart and Sarah of London; 2 daughters, Tammy Knifong of Little Rock, and Kristi and husband Billy Harris of Atkins; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and 3 sisters, Ena Lee, Lillie Cates, and Mary Palmer. Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 3, at Atkins First Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny McCoy and Bro. Larry Ballard officiating. Burial is in Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Chris Gardner, Jason Delancey, B.J. Gooden, Seth Cochran, Cody Peak, Austin Rhinehart, Gary Miller and Three Harris.
