Lottie Owens

Mrs. Lottie May Ray Owens, age 87, of the Hurricane Creek section of Vansant, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (April 27, 2016). Born May 7, 1928 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Doll and Bessie Hess Ray. A lifelong resident of Buchanan County, she enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was known for her fried pies and always enjoyed making them for others. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Owens, six brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Shelby Jean Owens of Baltimore, Maryland; three sons, Ronald Owens and wife, Sharon of Rowe, Harold Dean Owens and wife, Elizabeth and Steve Owens and wife, Jennifer all of Hurricane Creek; five grandchildren, Nathan Owens and wife, Sabrina, Heather Owens, Cody Owens and wife, Hope, Eric Owens and wife, Wendy, and Matthew Owens and wife, Lyn; one brother, Carl Ray and wife, Yvonne of Vansant; special friends, Jeanette McGlothlin, Sherry and Linton Deel, Melena Edwards, and Ann Ray; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Legacy Hospice for the care that they provided their mother. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Revs. Kyle Ratliff, Linton Deel, and Luther Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Nathan Owens, Cody Owens, Eric Owens, Matthew Owens, Les Edwards, David Powers, and Mike Ray. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyln Owens, Tyson Owens, Jerry Ray, Tim Ray, and Cannan Owens. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday.
