Obituary of Mervin H. Strominger. Jr.

Mervin H. Strominger, Jr., 75, of Greentown, and formerly of Campbelltown, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, in the Orangeville Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in New Cumberland on February 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Mervin H. Strominger, Sr., and Verna Bricker Swartz.
Mervin retired as a maintenance supervisor from the Hershey Chocolate Company after 40 years of service. He was a 1960 graduate of Hershey High School; and served with the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War. Mervin was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8317, Benton, and Post 1687, Hummelstown. In addition he was a member of the National Rifle Association, the PA Trappers Association, and the Retired Chocolate Workers Association. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. As a collector, Mervin also enjoyed going to auctions looking for treasures. However, most important to him was spending time with his grandsons.
Mervin is survived by his companion, Betty M. Reimard; two daughters, Amanda S. Courtright wife of Ryan L. of Greentown, and Debbie S. Peterson wife of Terry E. of Lebanon; three grandsons, Logan Courtright, Luke Courtright and Steven Peterson husband of Megan; his surrogate children, William Reimard and Kimberly Coolbaugh wife of Ronald, both of Benton, and their children, Shannon Biichle, Shane Biichle, and William Reimard; one sister, Shirley J. MacCormack of Middletown; his sister-in-law and niece, Pamela and Austine Strominger both of Emlenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mervin was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond L. Strominger and Harry Strominger; and five sisters, Doris Behm, Vivian Ayers, Ruth Kurucz, Lois Northern, and Arlene Hetzel.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Jason C. Mackey pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Family and friends are invited to the viewing Friday in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of the service.
